Cityprom Limited was formed in 1988 as an agreement between the Launceston City Council and a group of retailers to encourage the promotion and development of the central business district of the city of Launceston. Cityprom has a Board of Directors consisting of 12 members and employs a Promotions Officer and Executive Officer. Each Director represents a different type of business or a geographical section of the city to ensure fair representation to all members Cityprom brings together the city retailers, hospitality providers, professional offices and civic authorities so that we all focus on the city centre - keeping it a desirable place to visit. We conduct, organise and set up promotional programs, decorations, publicity, special events, co-operative advertising and other joint ventures to benefit the city. WHAT DOES CITYPROM DO? Market the CBD Our new branding is designed to place Launceston Central City as a city of colour, vibrancy and celebration of heritage. Our CBD is steeped in history, yet is young and alive with the promise of a dynamic future holding ongoing progress and development.
We are not a clone city – we have a real point of difference that tourists and local alike love.
Launceston Central City enjoys a strong boutique industry with a very high percentage of privately owned small businesses. Add to this our clean air, water and environs and there's no doubt…there's no better place. Promote the CBD Promotions include: • Annual Service Awards • Christmas Promotion • Fashion Parades • Mothers Day, Fathers Day • Winter Promotion • Monthly co-operative press and TV ads for specific areas or business genres Vibrancy and Appeal • City banners and Christmas decorations are the responsibility of Cityprom • Window posters & bunting • On street trading • Signage – safe and additive, not subtractive • Toilets – working with Council to achieve a high standard • Cleanliness and Safety are being addressed • Parking – new trial is being promoted. • Big Box retail is being actively controlled • Cityprom continues to lobby on any level for the protection and enhancement of the CBD Experience for visitors Sponsorship and involvement in local events to embrace the community and generate a sense of pride. Events include: • New Years Eve Countdown • Fashion Week • Crazy Day in the City • Christmas Parade • Christmas Carnivale Business Development for Members Communication is vital, so Cityprom staff have and open door policy, visit businesses personally and produce a monthly newsletter. To further assist business development at least three networking functions per year are held relating to such topics as: o marketing o branding & tourism o sales skills o time management o motivaton o changing trends o e-sales & retail Cityprom Mission Statement Cityprom's vision is to market the CBD and promote it as the premier retail, commercial and hospitality precinct, maintaining it as an appealing, vibrant regional hub. To achieve this Cityprom will endeavour to ensure our members are well equipped to provide a superior experience for CBD visitors.
