Cityprom supports On-Street Trading in the CBD when conducted in a safe, equitable and responsible manner. The Launceston City Council On-Street Trading Policy takes into consideration the needs of those with disabilities and the rights of traders. Over the past two years, Council and Cityprom have worked closely on developing initiatives that achieve a balance between the needs of businesses and maintaining the visual appeal of Launceston, whilst ensuring that the city is safe and accessible for all. The new guidelines came into affect on 1 July 2008 and can be viewed at http://www.launceston.tas.gov.au/subsector.php?id=3236§or=873 A brochure has also been widely distributed and is available from the Customer Service Centre at The Town Hall Service Centre. Businesses will be required to comply with the policy by this Christmas. Council encourages businesses with any questions or concerns to contact the Customer Service Centre on 6323 3000 to arrange for an officer to visit.
